i meant to write a few words over the holidays, but the holidays came and went and although we did very little, besides a bit of socializing and lots of movies (at home), they still came and went. but they and christmas was magical, huxley was into it, as was lux.
and while last year, something seemed amiss with lux on christmas, maybe it was what she asked for, and got wasn't what she was expecting...i'm not sure, but something was slightly amiss. and huxley too little to notice really anything. but this year...
she came into our bedroom at 7:38 am, i remember that because I said to Geoff on xmas eve "we better go to bed early, she'll have us up at 5 am" but she didn't and she slept (well sort of "in" for lux) and we went into the living room with her and all her gifts were wrapped but not all of Huxley's. AND the cookies crumbs were ALL gone from Santa's cookies and the carrots had been nibbled AND there were things in Lux's stocking that I didn't put there - so either it WAS santa, or Crash at the cookie crumbs and Geoff stashing in the stocking...I'll never know for sure.
anyways it was lovely - santa brought her an aryan American girl doll with blue eyes and bouncy blond hair and he brought Huxley a tool bench. Lux also got an American girl doll horse with ALL the trappings and Huxley a BIG truck and a guitar (among other things, many other things). And all day on the 24th and the 25th we spent together, the four of us, with lots of walks and music and cooking and cuddling together and it was so nice, and everyone said "oh won't you be lonely" and i said "no" :).
okay thats the cliff notes version, but its all candy canes and sugar plums you can be sure (the long version) so really i'll stop now. and i will post pictures later, because i GOT A NEW CAMERA.

Christmas this year was amazing. From putting up the tree which but H and L helped with. To doing the lights outside which L helped with
ReplyDeleteThen came christmas day and to the AMAZING food Claire cooked. YUMMY!!!!!. Also as claire stated the kids were really in to it but the big hit was seeing everyone so happy to be together and enjoy the love and gifts we had for each other. Also watching claire watch the kids. We are both very lucky parents.
After working through the gifts and watching the kids try to make sense of all the new goodies they just got the rest of the week was full of energy and cabin fever for some and late nights and pain for others working through a client application deployment. CLAIRE - Never let me sign up for a holiday deliverable again. Sorry about that.
After the holidays came back work and school however it also started a wonderful round of colds and sick nights starting with Huxley, then lux, then mama and me one day behind. I think later this week we all might be back to normal.
Finally, Claire and I have been on a mission. A Mission we seem to be on every January. CLEAN SWEEP. find and turf everything we have not touched, used, wore or in any way interacted with in over a year or two. IF we run across something worth keeping put it away but other wise donate, recycle or trash it.
In the end we feel the house if much lighter and by the end of january we will be a little more moved in (it has only been 2 years) but maybe every year you are in a house you feel like you are still moving in.
