What goes on in that little mind
Last words from Lux as I left her bedroom tonight "I wonder if I'll ever have a kid" - which doesn't solicit a "okay good night" from mom. So either this is actually on her mind, or she knows enough that a comment like that will keep me in her room, this from a kid who JUST turned 5. anyways its a big and lofty thing for anyone without kids to think about.

Kindergarten in sight...
Why does it seem like the last five years have been a sprint to kindergarten, or at the very least the last year, but now the final stretch is in sight and its scary, exciting and delightful all at the sametime.
Tonight we enjoyed the Laurelhurst Elementary Incoming Kindergarten Teddy Bear Picnic, so off we went with our packed picnic dinner (fruit salad, croissant sandwhiches and chocolate chip/walnut cookies loveingly made by Rachel and Lux) and made happy connections with other families about to embark on their first school experience. Lux runned around like a mad woman playing with the kids she knew and didn't know (and PASSED OUT upon home).
And this folks is why we moved, although we often quietly reflect what the experience would have been for Lux and us all had we not moved...different, for sure, happy, i'm sure, but different.
Huxley babbled and hollared and had a good look at all the kids. He is certainly experiencing more with language than before, I can't say we have much results, but we can tell he is trying to put it all together. He surprised us the other day with "apple sauce" repeating it after us, it was the closest and clearest of anything he has said yet.
