A few more snaps...

wildlife

Besides the dead cat on the street outside the neighbors house (that Lux hasn't noticed, the cat that is), we went to the zoo today for a little wildlife adventure. i forgot my wallet in G's car with my Microsoft prime card so had to pay full price for L and I, instead of the serious savings and since i'm pretending i'm no longer a working mom but a stay at home mom i'm practicing not spending money (which isn't really working). Anyways the zoo was fun, nice to have an outting just me and the kids, lots of kids and babies there, lots of very young Hispanic families, who are all adoring and fond parents. Here are some snaps, one in particular looks like Papa and Uncle martin, will let you all guess which snap that one is (a test to see really who is reading this damn blog). Also note snap with large, dangerous, snake Huxley my boy didn't like it, big sister was fascinated. Has anyone else read what I have that a few Burmese pythons released in South Florida have now multiplied to tens of thousands and they are beginning to travel northward? A female snake can have up to 80 baby snakes...I won't be visiting Florida or the Southeast ANYTIME soon!

On another note, our application to Sandpoint was approved by the board so as of July 1st, we can begin spending money there and stare in admiration at the pool we can't swim in for another 2 years likely. This will be a tricky one for Lux, so hard to explain to her why we can't swim.

And he's out

... and the butterfly too! a few recent lux quotes for us to remember..."daddy makes the money and we have it in our wallets" and "daddy you look pyrinestrian" huh, whats pyrinestrian, i think its short for middle eastern (which Geoff gets ALL the time). Geoff on route to Boulder tomorrow and grands arrive to help with the kiddies and mommy too. Crash must know someone is leaving, he is hiding out under G's desk in his office and won't come out...weird animal.

Underpants

Hot days here in Seattle, and what a better reason to show off our undies, either with body glitter or without. We attended Lux's end of year school recital, check out the snap of the whole class, does anyone look enthusiastic or at all focused? Thank the lord it was three quick songs, nothing worse than having kids do anything more than that. On another note, Huxley is beginning to make more eye contact, we were wondering when that would happen. We don't get alot of smiles but the ones that we get are special for sure. Lux just told me today that having "brothers" is better than having a sister. She is hitting her stride with her bro and enjoying him more and more each day. I took out his room his first lot of clothes grown out of (including Lux's pink sleepers), sort of broke my heart, somethings he never did even wear. I'm pretty picky about boy clothes, most are pretty terrible, either safari looking gay-crap or sporty themes, with july 4th kinda barfed all over them. Both kids are sleeping, I should take a nap, but I can never sleep when home in the house alone with them, too nervous or something. And he's doing good in the night, only up to eat once but still stirs at around 1 am, although I don't get up and let him put himself back to sleep. I keep waiting for him to make it to 6 am, he has done 5 am once but mostly up around 4 and then again at 7:30 or 8. We are putting our application into Sand Point Country Club this week, I've been scrambling to put it all togther, letters of recommendation etc. We're merely joining now to get on the list to join the swim/tennis portion. For now we can enjoy a few perks, the fitness center (sort of like one at a hotel but a bit larger), tennis flight (I think I will join later in the summer and take some lessons), dining, swim lessons (if not all full) and thats about it. It will be about a 2 year wait to be able to have access to the pool. We're joining now so that as the kids get older we have the pool to enjoy all summer and the social aspect as most of the families from Lux's school are members and we (and of course her) have made a connection with them. We (Geoff and I, and babe) toured the facility the other day, its a beautiful golf course with spectacular views of the lake and had visions of many happy summer days and nights spent there and the kids enjoying going alone as teenagers with their friends. I think of my summers at Kinnaird pool (sp), biking down and then to the DQ, although this isn't quite like that, will be a place I'm sure the kids will have memories of.

Kicking off a weekend of social engagements a la Lux

Lux, long awaited star of the week has arrived and left! We've been waiting for it for the entire school year, save the best for last they say. We (Geoff, Huxley and I) joined Lux for lunch at First Class Kids and brought a pan of brownies to celebrate the occasion. Lux has been line leader for the week and has held court at lunch with "Bone appeteet you may eat". We joined many of her friends at an ice cream social at Laurelhurst school this evening and took in some ice cream (of course), a pony ride and kibutz'ing on the Sand Point Crunchy Club (with members) and the benefits of joining "really you must join". Who knew having kids would be this fun, especially with this social kid and her amazingly anti-social parents and blobby newborn brother. But wait the weekend has only started - we have Lux's fourth birthday tomorrow and 9 3-5 year old girls coming, a bbque at Deb's Sat night and another 4 year old birthday on Sunday. Stay tuned, I'll blog it all. What have I been doing my whole life working, coordinating Lux's social life and cuddling with my little guy is WAY more fun.

Its a wrap

Slowly a school year worth of festivities is coming to an end and hot summer days are upon us. Here are a few memories of Lux's first ballet "proformance", what happens on hot days when you don't nap, and hot days when you do nap! We've been shopping for "crunchy club" memberships, well really one, the Sand Point Crunchy Club (as Lux calls it), took the kids for a tour yesterday in the blazing hot afternoon and when Lux saw the the outside pool she said to me (in front of the woman giving us the tour) "mom just pay the lady now so we can go for a swim, just write the check now mom, lets go", little did our princess know that for the price of the membership we could execavate a pool in our yard and one in our neighbor's yard too. Anyho needless to say we'll be frolicking in our own back yard this summer and kootenay lake for free and save the crunchy club for another year!
