this is five

five years tonight of huxley - what a ride! our very small celebration grew a bit in true seattle style (our friends who are our family) came by with balloons and gifts and cheer to celebrate huxley, in true huxley form, he warmed up JUST as everyone was leaving.

he got today - a bike, mag formers (cool magnets), lego, play mobile, cool clothes, but he liked the balloons received the best.  he also got new sneakers and a movie date with mom.

happy birthday - 5 is big, big for dad and I and nana and papa, means you're off - off to kindy in the fall, not a little guy anymore, 5 is a whole new era - its as bitter sweet as it gets, but mostly bitter.  so we plan to just enjoy you and enjoy 5.

we love you so deeply, dear boy.

b. follows instruction
c. asks for help when needed
d. completes assigned work

2) Community citizen
a. takes turns
b. cares for the school

3) Complex thinker
a. attempts to solve own problems
b. attempts to improve work following feedback from others

4) Quality producer
a. tries new and challenging activities

5) Cooperative learner

Academically -

All in all - pretty proud of her, her achievements in caring about her school, working out her own problems, being an empathetic listener, trying new and hard things happily, working well with others, all great things, things Geoffrey and I really care about and hope to instill in her now and always - as she leads us down this path :).

Alice's Restaurant!

I'm back, I can do this on my phone, pretty cool (thanks Geoff)! Anyways you've missed a lot, a good 6 months of a huge remodel and a school auction. But that's all wrapped up and for now I seem to have a lot time on my hands!! So here you go, my naked nearly 5 year old eating in my new kitchen! Which is funny because the kid is pretty modest but I turned around from my sink and there he was, bare naked!!

never a dull moment - always an andrews

out for dinner with the x's "alone" (mom, are we going alone with you to a restaurant? - yes).  after a brief debate, huxley lands on sand point grill, lux grimaces, i agree, lux obviously wanted varlarmos to see what if any friends are there.  both hoping dad will show.  so we, three show up.

huxley'isms
* "my dad isn't coming, his name is geoffrey sidari"
* "mom you farted, or i farted, oh i mean someone farted"
* "lemonade isn't pink enough, can you make it more sweet, that will make it pink"
* all while wiggling - me "huxley lets go to the bathroom, you have to go" on route he in front of a crowded table of 60+ lifted his leg and farted, loudly, i noticed how loud the restaurant was overall pretended nothing happened - what else was i to do...he never did go to the bathroom

he also today:
* put on with my help the VERY same outfit he wears daily and says "everyone will be so surprised" and i said "huxley you wear this EVERYDAY" and he says "i do???"
* poured himself a bowl of cereal, upon my arrival in the kitchen after hearing him bashing around he said "don't worry mom, i got this, i won't make a mess" oh i thought, he now pours bowls of cereal, good to know

lux
* doing fractions, 1/3, 1/4, all pretty easy, stumbled on 3/4 - sorry lux your out of luck, i'm "alone" with you at a restaurant without dad and he would know for sure what 3/4
* anyways, who does fractions at 7 years old
* she also had a playdate with a new girl that moved here this year and on route home said "well that was maybe my best playdate ever, and we used to be so shy of one another, but we won't be anymore"
* she also wore two french braids to school today and complained loudly about it, loudly but she did tell me at the end of the day "wasn't bad mom to wear french braids today because my nick name was braided humming bird today" - i thought - aptly named, humming birds sort of flap around you, buzzing non stop in your face...no other comments

both as i was were very happy to see dad at the end of the day before bed.

night night angels - can't wait to see what you bring to me tomorrow xo.

addendum...on walk to pick lux up from her playdate, while i walked the dog and huxley walked the stroller (much much larger than him) and collected his collection of sticks, rocks, flowers he said "mom don't you say someone to say hello to" and i said "i'm not sure" he said "mom say hello to spring" as he shouted "hello spring".

i'm tired

sort of bone aching'ly tired.  this auction, work, everything is sinking me, and i'm pooped, crawling into bed most nights at 9:30.  i'm counting the hours until work is done on 3/31, i'm not sure why its not taxing at ALL but its a huge distraction and we can't seem to manage a two person working family.  makes us seem like whimps, or me a whimp.  but its not that as much as i don't have my head in it, working that is, or my heart.  over soon, i can make it.  then i can simply go back to being bone aching'ly tired from the regular stuff, raising two kids.  but i know what that tired is like, and its okay.

thats all i got - whiney hey...

hard for us to get anywhere

had a fun outing to go to this am - until all of us wrecked in some way, its 8 pm now so we're all talking and everything is good, but it definitely set a bad tone for the first half of the day.

let me enlighten you.

fun outing = warehouse / scooter fun with huxley's pals (= in his head pals from school nope, sorry chum).  BUT it was in south seattle and we just don't do south seattle, we eff the exit up everytime - or sorry geoff ff's it up.  so on route late:

- lux talking NON stop in bad church people traffic on the 5, non stop, dribble - honestly shut up Lux
- geoff saulking about something - or right its the weekend and without the distraction of an 80 hour work week he saulks...
- huxley - being huxley, having a fit, overly likely nothing, so we promptly all ignore him, which starts him yelling MOMMMM look at me, over lux's talking - shut up lux, geoff still saulking but now worse "i swear that kid hates me" "yeah geoff he hates you thats why he acts like an ass, because with me he's perfect"
- me - blaming geoff for everything wrong in my life, not that anything is wrong but when prompted by a daughter that won't shut up, a saulking husband and an ass of a son - believe me i can find a thing or two

not a shining example of family life - i think i called huxley an asshole, no yelled "don't be such an asshole" - all on a beautiful sunshiny morning.  after we were finished being lost in south seattle, which is like a black hole of awful we came home, after a quick stop and temper tantrum at starbucks.

after wrestling with a whole lot of crap in our garage, a dinner of roast chicken and hot-buttered rum apple pie (mom this is the best pie yet - from lux, no its not, its doesn't have chocolate in it - from huxley) we mostly finished the day all friends.  good times.
